How To Cook Striper Fish
Whether you’re at home or in your pop up camper it’s easy to cook stripper. Striper fish can be cooked in a number of ways. It has a firm and meaty texture making it easy to prepare on the grill, pan-seared, or in the oven.
Pan-Cooked Striper
- Once you have the striper fillets, place them on a clean plate or surface. Season the fillets lightly with salt. Feeling a little more adventurous? Add other seasonings as you see fit, such as pepper, coriander, garlic powder, or herbs such as oregano.
- Add some peanut or canola oil and a pat of butter to a large skillet. Add just enough to coat the skillet. Bring the oil to high heat on your stove.
- Place the striper fillets in the pan. If you left the skin on the fillets place the fillets with the skin down. Let the fillets sear for about 3 minutes.
- After 3 minutes lower the heat to medium to medium-high, and flip the fillets over. Cook the flipped side for about 4 minutes until the outside is seared well and the fillets flake easily with a fork.
- Serve hot and enjoy.
Grilled Striper
- Before you begin grilling your striper you will need to prepare your grill. Once your grill grates are clean brush the grates with canola oil. If using charcoal, light up some fresh coals and bring them to a medium heat. If using a gas or propane grill turn the burners on to high for about 15 minutes. Once the gas grill is pre-heated reduce heat to medium.
- Go ahead and season the fillet strips with your favorite condiments. You can also squeeze some lemon or lemon juice to add more flavor.
- Add the striper fillets to the grill. Grill each side for about 4-5 minutes until the flesh is flaky and slightly opaque.
Baked Striper
- Baking striper fish is easy. Preheat your over to 435 degrees. Take a baking sheet and coat it with canola oil or cooking spray.
- Add the fillets to the baking sheet and season each fillet with salt, pepper, and any other spices you enjoy. Brush on or drizzle each fillet with olive oil.
- Place fillets in the oven and bake the fillets for 10 to 13 minutes until the fillets are flaky.
